Joshua Waterhouse

Profile

Joshua is a PhD student with Monash University and based at the Burnet Institute under the supervision of Dr. Herbert Opi and Professor James Beeson. His project focuses on antibody epitopes that contribute to malaria protection. Using a combination of established and progressive epitope analysis techniques, his work aims to look at specific P. falciparum antigens, identify their key antibody epitopes associated with protection, and elucidate the mechanisms via which the recognising antibodies confer protection. Joshua’s research hopes to improve malaria vaccine design, our understanding of antigenic diversity, and better evaluation of current malaria vaccines
