Katherine O’Flaherty

Profile

Katherine is a Postdoctoral researcher within the Malaria and Infectious Diseases Epidemiology Group at the Burnet Institute. Katherine’s doctoral thesis combined laboratory and statistical techniques in malaria immuno-epidemiology studies in the Greater Mekong Sub-region to investigate the role of host immunity in sub-clinical and drug resistant P. falciparum, and the effects of intense elimination activities on the maintenance of acquired immunity and implications for malaria rebound. Katherine also has research interests in the role of acquired immunity in antimalarial treatment efficacy, and the use of serosurveillance to inform malaria elimination activities.
