Nick Scott

Profile

Dr Nick Scott is an Econometrician at the Burnet Institute with a PhD in mathematics and a strong track record working with stakeholders to translate research into practice. Using data collected through field studies and surveillance systems his models generate quantitative evidence on the expected population-level impact of interventions, which provides practical advice to policy makers on the appropriate level and timing of responses to diseases.

Nick is the team lead for malaria, hepatitis C, maternal and child health and nutrition within the Optima Consortium for Decision Science. He works directly with partners in the World Bank, the Gates Foundation and governments to generate recommendations on how limited funding can be optimally distributed across programs, population groups and geographical areas to have the greatest impact.
