Paolo Bareng is a PhD student at the Institute for Mental and Physical Health and Clinical Translation (IMPACT), Deakin University and the Centre for Innovation in Infectious Disease and Immunology Research (CIIDIR), supervised by Professor Alyssa E. Barry. Paolo’s PhD project focuses on defining critical Plasmodium vivax antigen genes and specific genetic polymorphisms that contribute to antigenic escape. His research seeks to contribute to the development of Plasmodium vivax vaccines and sero-surveillance tools.
