Sarah Auburn

Profile

Dr Sarah Auburn is a molecular biologist with expertise in the genetic and genomic epidemiology of malaria. Her current research focus entails utilizing information on the genetic make-up of malaria parasites to gain insights into the biological mechanisms underlying antimalarial drug resistance, and to monitor transmission dynamics within and across borders. She holds a Senior Research Officer post at Menzies School of Health Research, Darwin, Australia, where she leads the genetic and genomic studies on Plasmodium vivax. She is also affiliated with the UK MRC Centre for Genomics and Global Health, supporting access to genomic technologies for country partners in the Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network.

Within ACREME, Sarah will facilitate projects in the surveillance theme entailing the development and implementation of new molecular tools to monitor parasite transmission and drug resistance emergence and spread.
