Evaluation and prediction of the effect of combinations of antimalarial drugs

Project Team

Project Description

As a consequence of emergence of resistant parasites to current drug regimes, the development and use of combinations of antimalarial drugs are critical to the successful control of malaria. This study will use simulation studies to assess the performance of pharmacokinetic (PK), pharmacodynamic (PD) and PK/PD methods to evaluate and predict the effect of combination therapies in controlled human malaria infections. Simulated PK/PD relationship of combination therapies will be generated by using PK and PD relationships identified from monotherapy treatment tested within pre-clinical studies and controlled human malaria infections.
